METHODOLOGY FOR SELECTING MATERIALS FROM THE “QAZAQ” NEWSPAPER ON THE HISTORY OF TURKEY FOR USE IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS

Abstract

This article specifically examines the issue of selecting publications from the «Qazaq» newspaper regarding the history of Turkey for integration into the higher education curriculum. The informational texts published in this periodical do not constitute a random collection; rather, they require consideration as a documentary corpus reflecting the history of Kazakh society in the early 20th century. Publications concerning Turkey that appeared in this national newspaper during that era have acquired significant importance as historical sources today. A key requirement for the methodology of incorporating this body of data into the educational process is the selection of materials - diverse in content and genre - based on their subject matter, the information they provide, and their practical relevance; such an approach will enhance the teaching of Turkish history in educational institutions across Kazakhstan. The study also systematizes methods for utilizing the selected materials within the educational process. The majority of the materials analyzed were published under headings such as «Foreign News,» «War», and «From Newspapers». The documentary corpus comprises selected texts from the «Qazaq» newspaper concerning the Ottoman Empire during the pivotal period of the First World War, rather than the complete run of issues from 1913 to 1918. Consequently, the research findings are formulated within these chronological and textual parameters. The study analyzes the works of scholars and specialists in teaching methodology from both Kazakhstan and Turkey.
