Abstract

The article addresses the issue of teaching students the process of introducing loanwords into the language, their role, and significance in the historical development of the language, using feature films as a context. In modern methodological practice, the use of feature films is considered one of the most effective methods of teaching and explaining some internal units of the language. This method is significant for understanding the nature of loanwords, determining the reasons for their emergence, and analyzing their usage. The authors of the article analyze how words from other languages entered the modern Kazakh language at the beginning of the 20th century, using the example of the film ―Akhmet. Teacher of the Nation‖. The purpose of this work is to examine the scientific principles that guided representatives of the Alash intelligentsia, including A. Baitursynuly, when borrowing words from other languages at the beginning of the 20th century, and to compare these borrowed words with their modern Kazakh variants using the case study method. The article discusses how to develop critical reading and understanding skills by analyzing critically borrowed words through feature films. Based on theories of learning and storytelling, the article examines and analyzes the meanings of words that entered the Kazakh language from other languages a century ago during the Soviet Era, as well as the Kazakh versions proposed by A. Baitursynuly in group work. Examples of tasks designed to develop the skills of reading borrowed words in the Kazakh language, using films as a resource, are provided. The INSERT method, which was used as feedback on these tasks, contributed to their comprehensive study. The results of the study showed that learning the nature of loanwords through vocabulary in films increases students‘ interest in the lesson. This helped them expand their vocabulary in relation to the use of certain concepts and thematic words. The computer data analysis program Jamovi statistically proved the effectiveness of the research results. The use of films as teaching materials simplifies the process of learning borrowed words and improves the quality of learning the Kazakh language by students. In conclusion, the authors highlight the importance of film in teaching the Kazakh language and its potential as a promising tool for future research. The authors conclude that film-based learning contributes to the development of students‘ language skills, deepening their understanding of foreign language vocabulary, and increasing the interest and effectiveness of the learning process.
