Abstract

Contemporary methodology in language education not only addresses the development of instructional-methodological complexes for language teaching but also raises concerns about the issue of compiling educational dictionaries. An educational dictionary is a lexicographical work that serves as a tool for linguistic communication and discourse, and its significance is particularly pronounced in the context of teaching Kazakh as a related language. Educational dictionaries play a crucial role in expanding the learner’s vocabulary, facilitating the accurate acquisition of grammatical structures, and fostering communicative competence, thereby enabling learners to engage fluently in the target language environment.
This article explores the various types of educational dictionaries, the fundamental principles underlying their construction, and the scientific-methodological frameworks that guide their creation. It also presents methodological approaches aimed at developing intercultural competence in learners of Kazakh as a related language, with a comparative analysis of four Turkic languages (Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Turkish, and Uzbek). These approaches are particularly evident in the associative educational dictionary for language instruction. The thematic structure of the educational dictionary, which integrates country-specific and cultural information, is designed to promote learners’ understanding of the cultural similarities and differences across Turkic-speaking nations. The ultimate objective is to facilitate the acquisition of linguistic materials through cognitive-pragmatic and comparative-contrastive methods.
