Abstract

This article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the historical formation of the idea of unity of the Turkic peoples, its political and cultural significance, as well as its relevance in the modern period. The unity of the Turkic world is considered as a spiritual and ideological foundation that has developed since the era of the ancient Turkic khaganates, highlighting the role of such figures as Tonyukuk, Kül Tegin, and Bilge Khagan in shaping the ideas of the “Eternal State” and the “Turkic Country.”

Special attention is paid to the revival of Turkism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and to the contributions of Ziya Gökalp, Ismail Gaspirali, Ahmet Vefik Pasha, and other intellectuals to the Turkic renaissance. The article also examines the views of Kazakh intellectuals—Akhmet Baitursynuly, Magzhan Zhumabayev, Mustafa Shokay, and other public figures—on the idea of Turkic unity and their role in the revival of national consciousness.

In addition, the study assesses cooperation among Turkic peoples in the context of contemporary globalization, the activities of organizations such as the Organization of Turkic States and TURKSOY, and the cultural, political, and economic importance of Turkic integration. The research aims to identify the key challenges currently facing the Turkic world, including the preservation of cultural integrity, the strengthening of linguistic unity, the enhancement of political cooperation, and the search for ways to protect against the negative impacts of globalization.

The methodological framework of the study is based on the principles of historicism and objectivity; methods of analysis, comparison, interpretation, and systematization are employed. Overall, the article seeks to provide a comprehensive academic examination of the evolution of the idea of historical unity of the Turkic peoples, its strategic significance for contemporary Turkic states, and prospects for future development.
