Abstract

This article analyzes information from written sources, legends, legends and materials of archaeological research on places associated with the activities of the Turkestan saint – Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. Written sources of local origin – "Nasabnama" have preserved data on the life and work of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. They contain information about places associated with Sufi rituals: Hilvet, Humiishka (Kumchik-ata) and other objects associated with Sufism. The historical memory of local residents about the house of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi was recorded by Russian researchers: N.I. Veselovsky, A.I. Dobrosyslov, M.E. Masson, V.A. Gordlevsky, Kazakh authors J.Aimautov, O.Dastanov. The materials obtained by archaeologists T.N. Senigova, E.Smagulov, M.Tuyakbaev allow us to date buildings associated with Sufi rituals. The article contains materials about other monuments, which folk legends associate with Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. Archaeological studies conducted in a number of monuments using traditional dating techniques have provided materials that do not contradict the data on the chronology of the life of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi in the XII century. An integrated approach to legends allows us to identify real facts related to the activities of the founder of Turkic Sufism, who played an outstanding role in the history of not only Turkestan, but also the entire Central Asian region.
