Abstract

In the history of philosophy, the concept of death, the meanings and definitions that pursued philosophers and theologians at every stage of development and which were imposed in connection with this, were reflected differently in each period. The search for death was not only limited to philosophy, but also to other fields of science such as religion, sociology, psychology, literature, numerous studies have been conducted, and these studies will continue in the future. This is because death as an existential phenomenon is one of the most important concepts inseparable from the human mind. In this study, we will look at how possible it is to analyze the concept of death underlying the topic based on a hermeneutical approach and what results can be achieved as a result of this approach. The research work is conducted according to the views of Martin Heidegger, who was a prominent representative of existential philosophy. Heidegger considers death as a phenomenon that defines the existence of Dasein (being) and gives meaning to life. Heidegger strives for openness, linking the phenomenon of death with the category of "time", which ensures the integrity and meaning of life. From this point of view, the category of "time" is of great importance in revealing the existence of Dasein and in understanding his attitude to death. Also in our research work, we turned to hermeneutical and phenomenological methods in the course of analyzing, discussing, understanding and interpreting Dasein's analysis and Heidegger's death.
