This article examines the role of the course ―Actuarial and Financial Mathematics‖ in developing financial literacy among university students. Financial literacy is considered a key prerequisite for the socio-economic stability of modern society. Among the mathematical disciplines taught in higher education institutions, the course ―Actuarial and Financial Mathematics‖ occupies a distinct place, as it prepares students to make sound decisions in real-life situations. During the study of this subject, students acquire skills in calculating credit conditions, evaluating investment efficiency, analyzing insurance policies, understanding the mechanisms of funded elements in the pension system, as well as forecasting and managing financial risks. Such knowledge not only ensures their future financial stability but also enhances their professional competence. The article highlights the impact of financial literacy on individuals‘ well-being, analyzes the role of mathematics in shaping students‘ financial competence, and discusses methodological features of teaching this discipline, suggesting practical approaches applicable in the learning process. The authors emphasize the effectiveness of problem-solving activities and project-based learning in fostering financial literacy. The conclusion underscores the importance of integrating this subject into university curricula to prepare economically competent and competitive young professionals.
