Abstract

This article provides a comprehensive historical and socio-analytical examination of the standard of living and the level of satisfaction of social needs among the population of the Kashkadarya region during the years of independence. The study analyzes in detail the impact of socio-economic transformations on everyday life, living conditions, and the material well-being of the population. Particular attention is paid to changes in the structure and dynamics of household incomes in the context of the transition to a market economy and the implementation of economic reforms.

The article explores the main sources of income, transformations in employment patterns, the growing role of self-employment, and the influence of migration processes. In addition, the structure of household expenditures is analyzed, including spending on food, housing and kommunal services, education, and healthcare. These indicators allow for a more accurate assessment of the actual living standards of the population.

The study also evaluates the level of development and quality of social infrastructure, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare, culture, and recreation. Special emphasis is placed on leisure practices, patterns of time use, and their role in shaping overall well-being. The organization of leisure activities and the development of recreational culture are considered as important components of quality of life.

The findings indicate that, despite notable improvements in living standards as a result of reforms implemented during the years of independence, significant challenges remain. These include regional disparities in development, infrastructural limitations, and inequalities in income distribution. Based on the analysis, the article proposes scientifically grounded recommendations aimed at improving living standards, enhancing the satisfaction of social needs, and strengthening the effectiveness of regional social policy.
