Abstract

This article explores the scholarly and spiritual legacy of Imam Abu Hanifa, a prominent 8th-century Islamic theologian and jurist, through the lens of his role as a teacher and mentor. It examines Abu Hanifa's contributions to the development of Islamic jurisprudence, his methodology and principles, and the influence of his teachings on the formation of the Hanafi school of thought, one of the major legal schools in Sunni Islam. The article highlights the role of Abu Hanifa's justice-based legal perspectives in shaping the spiritual and social foundations of Islamic civilization. Particular attention is given to analyzing Abu Hanifa's pedagogical legacy, as reflected in the works of his students, such as Abu Yusuf, Muhammad ash-Shaybani, and Zufar ibn al-Hudhayl. The article examines Abu Hanifa's influence on his students, his teaching methods, and his students' contributions to the development and dissemination of the Hanafi school. It analyzes aspects such as continuity in the tradition of Islamic law, the role of the teacher's personal example in shaping the moral character of students, and the importance of dialogue and discussion in the learning process. The article also highlights Abu Hanifa's role as a spiritual mentor and his teachings on morality, justice, and compassion, which he imparted to his students.
