Computer Terminology in Turkic Languages: Formation of Hardware Terms

This study examines one of the key problems in the field of Turkic studies: the formation of a common terminological fund for Turkic languages. The purpose of the article is to analyze the hardware-related terms of computer terminology that have developed in Turkic languages. Hardware refers to the electronic and mechanical parts of a computing device that perform processes, excluding programs, their assembly, and data processing. The article selects 15 main devices for analysis. Terms in Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Azerbaijani, Turkmen, and Turkish were compared with one another and with terms in Russian and English. Definitions for each term are provided, and the etymology of each word is determined using dictionaries. The article reflects the general vocabulary of Turkic languages, including borrowed words from Arabic and Persian, and the influence of European languages as a source for information technology terminology in Turkic languages. The study found that words borrowed from Latin play a major role in the formation of hardware terms. In conclusion, the article presents recommendations for future work aimed at establishing a common terminological fund for Turkic languages.
