Abstract

The article comprehensively examines the effectiveness and potential applications of teaching Kazakh spelling in higher education institutions through the modeling method. Written language serves as a testament to a nation’s worldview, a spiritual heritage of enduring value, and a symbol of civilization. The issue of writing literacy is fundamentally linked to human civilization and statehood. Today, the necessity and relevance of focusing on the writing literacy, orthographic norms, and spelling rules of the younger generation are increasing. Developing students' linguistic skills and fostering their writing culture in higher education institutions is a crucial component of society's dynamic progress. Therefore, the integration of modern methods in teaching Kazakh spelling, particularly the use of the modeling method, has a significant impact on enhancing the effectiveness of the educational process. The modeling method is regarded as a modern pedagogical approach that ensures a deep and systematic understanding of orthographic norms while also fostering the development of practical skills. During the experiment, the significance of modeling orthographic norms in relation to linguistic units studied at the higher education level, particularly those related to phonetics and orthography, was identified. Additionally, the experiment determined how modeling techniques contribute to improving students' spelling proficiency and writing culture. The enhancement of students' knowledge of Kazakh spelling norms was conducted in continuity with the development of modeling skills. The article presents a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results of the control and formative experiments.
