This article examines the cultural and national features of the phraseological units in the English and Kazakh languages, as well as their comparison and analysis. The uniqueness of each culture becomes apparent upon careful consideration of phraseology, since the set of expressions in one language may differ markedly from the elements of phraseological units in other languages. This underlines the importance of studying phraseological units for a deeper understanding of the mentality, cultural traditions, and customs of different peoples, and their comparison allows researchers to identify the distinctive features of each country. A comparative study of phraseological units in languages that do not have a genetic connection not only helps to improve the understanding of the meanings of foreign expressions but also allows scholars to identify their national and cultural characteristics and identity. The article highlights the phraseological aspect of the study of phraseological units through the national cultural code within modern linguistic and cultural studies and provides a comparative description of the phraseological units of the Kazakh and English languages. During the study, phraseological units related to the names of bread were collected and analyzed, selected by a continuous sampling method from Kazakh-English phraseological dictionaries. The analysis revealed both similarities and differences at the lexical and semantic levels, allowing for a deeper understanding of the essence of both linguistic cultures.
